  • The Tutor:

  • James is a qualified teacher, graduating in 1971.

  • He has been an adult education tutor over the last fifteen years.

  • James teaches on a regular basis at Denman College and is an NFWI Travelling Tutor.

  • In 1998 he became an accredited tutor for CLAS – The Calligraphy Lettering Arts Society. You can therefore expect a high standard of tuition.

  • James is able to teach a variety of ability levels – absolute beginners, beginners, improvers and intermediates.

  • James Skinner is an experienced tutor. (At an unannounced inspection of a WI workshop in April 2003 he was given a grade 1 – the highest grade possible).

  • All workshops are held in a friendly learning environment. James is well known for his enthusiasm, patience and his supportive style of teaching. Students will be provided with prepared guidelines and useful instruction worksheets.

  • Left handers are especially welcome. Although James is not left handed, he will demonstrate both with his left and right hand as appropriate.

‘ Without exception, everyone was delighted with the whole day. Your teaching was of the highest standard, clear, concise and very interesting. The fact that twelve W.I. members were quiet for all those hours was no mean feat. ’
Marlene Durham, Secretary of Llanblethian W.I. (Calligraphy - A Taster Day, Llanblethian W.I. - September 2004)
